Rick Hamilton's Page # 42

Rick Hamilton retired as the Preds Fullback/Linebacker and now will be on the sidelines for the 2002 season.

#42 in your programs but #1 in your hearts
Rick Hamilton was without a doubt the best Fullback/Linebacker the AFL has ever seen. After bouncing around the NFL with KC, Washington, NY Jets, and the Detroit Lions. He came to the Orlando Predators in 1998 and led the team in rushing yards and Touchdowns. On a Sunday afternoon in the ArenaBowl he played the game of his life. He had touchdown runs of 38,12, and 4 yards respectively, he took home the MVP of Arenabowl 12. He did all of this with a broken wrist. He is the true meaning of what it is to be a tough man, and this page is in his playing memory. So here's to #42!

Hamilton takes a hand-off in Arenabowl 14 ArenaBowl 14
In Arenabowl 14 with the Preds already leading the Nashville Kats 23-7, Rick Hamilton caught a TD pass from Quarterback Connell Maynor to put the Preds up 29-7 en-route to the Preds 41-38 triumph over the Nashville Kats.

Coach Hamilton
The 2002 season will see Rick Hamilton become a coach. He played 3 seasons at FB/LB for the Preds and now he will coach the same position he left. The FB/LB position is one for the "homeboys" when it comes to Preds Football.. The position has been held by Paul McGowan (FSU), Jerry Odom (UF), Bill Stewart (UCF) and Rick Hamilton who is also from UCF. I have had the pleasure of watching Rick since his days at UCF. From 1990 til today he has been my favorite player at any level. In college he led the UCF defense. In the pros, he led the Preds defense. As a Pred he also got to punish the defense. He holds the record for the longest rushing TD in an Arenabowl of 38 yards. Most rushing TD's in an Arenabowl with three, and I wouldn't doubt if he holds the record for carries in an ArenaBowl. From today on, any player who straps up in the red and black and plays FB/LB will be compared to Rick Hamilton, the best ever!
